Recycle Lens Privacy Policy

Recycle Lens helps users analyze waste/product photos and receive recycling guidance. This policy explains what data is used and how it is handled.

Photos

Photos are used only for instant analysis and are not stored by the mobile app. The app sends the selected image to the Recycle Lens backend solely to request an immediate waste analysis response from the configured AI provider.

Location

Location is used to determine local recycling rules and nearby recycling/drop-off points. Location data is used for the current request and is not used to create a login profile.

No Account Required

Recycle Lens does not require login or sign-up.

AI and Recycling Guidance

AI detects item, material, and condition. Local recycling rules decide the final recommendation. AI output may be uncertain. Recycling rules may vary by location. Users should check local recycling resources when in doubt.

Map Data

Nearby recycling points are based on public OpenStreetMap data and may be incomplete or outdated.

Third-Party Services

Recycle Lens may use a backend AI provider for image analysis and OpenStreetMap/Overpass data for nearby recycling points. API keys are kept on the backend and are not included in the mobile app.
